Mallodon is a pretty common sight in the southern US, ranging from Arizona to Florida, spanning the entire southern part of North America. They are pretty decent sized, nearing 5cm at max, and a fantastic beetle to raise.
All you need to breed this beetle, is some damp sawdust substrate. Females are not picky when it comes to laying eggs, 1/2 inch of sawdust have been very sufficient in terms of getting eggs from them. Eggs have a hard shell, looking like seeds.
The larvae can be easily raised on just sawdust (expanded pellets) of hardwoods of any type. The larval period is from 1 to 3 years, dependent on care conditions. Their larvae does take protein, and can grow very quickly when supplemented. They also can be raised in Kinishi.
Longhorn beetles are a joy to keep, and this is one of the best beginner species! Give it a try!
